Building Renovation & Expansion
As Associate at Linden Group Architects, I managed the $5 million dollar renovation and expansion to the Village of Frankfort Administration Building. The expansion provided 10,000 square feet of additional space, including a new public boardroom and community meeting space, conference rooms, private offices, restrooms, storage and a consolidated transaction space for multiple village departments. Overall project development also included renovated office space, additional parking, storm water detention, and enhanced site landscaping.
Phased Trail Development
As Planning Director of the Champaign County Forest Preserves, I worked with consulting engineers to design and manage construction for multiple phases of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. Construction costs for the first phase totaled in $2.7 million dollars, and included trail construction, a bridge over the Salt Fork River, and storm water infrastructure.
Phase 2 was recently completed, adding 0.3 miles of asphalt paved trail to St. Joseph, IL. Currently, I am developing a system of wayfinding signs and additional amenities for trail users.
Corporate Research and Development Laboratories & Office Renovation
World Headquarters Legal Group Build-out
The Panduit Corporation is a global manufacturer of data infrastructure components. As Associate at Linden Group Architects, I managed a $3 million dollar office build-out for Panduit’s legal group at their World Headquarters. The 6,000 square feet office build-out features automated LED lighting, solar window shades, wood and metal wall paneling throughout the space, and A/V teleconferencing equipment built into the furniture systems.
I also contributed to the design of a two phase renovation at Panduit’s Corporate Research and Development facility. Phase one included testing laboratories for data components and a cafeteria space, while the second phase renovated 15,000 square feet into office and conference spaces. Combined improvements for both phases totaled in $10.7 million dollars.
Private Development & Amenities
As Project Manager at Linden Group Architects, I managed the design and construction of this private event facility, greenhouse and fishing pier in Will County, IL. The 7,000 square feet event space features a catering kitchen, bar & lounge areas, toilet rooms, and mezzanine storage. Radiant heat is provided throughout the ground level concrete floors.
The 900 square feet greenhouse features a triple wall polycarbonate skin over a galvanized steel frame, and controls for roof and side wall vents, heaters, fans, lighting, and retractable shades. Utilities were coordinated to provide water, gas, electrical, and dispose of sanitary waste.
Masterplan & Phased Development
As Project Manager at Linden Group Architects, I managed multiple phases of development at Community Park, a 50 acre park and athletic complex in Munster, Indiana. The multi-million dollar park development features softball and baseball fields designed to Little League, Babe Ruth, and High School standards, as well as centralized structures housing restrooms and press boxes.
Collaborating with park stakeholders, as well as Munster Town Officials, Boards and Councils, the master plan was divided into multiple phases consistent with the Town’s annual budget. A general contractor was not used for most phases of this project. Rather, the design team coordinated with Munster’s Town Engineer to manage the construction process.
Pond & Waterfall Reconstruction
As Director of Planning and Operations at the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, I am managing the $260,000 reconstruction of the botanical garden pond and waterfall at Lake of the Woods. The new design features infrastructure for water circulation and filtering, a rubber pond liner, and large granite and sandstone boulders. The majority of the pond will have a depth of 2 to 3 feet for the safety of children who are visiting the gardens and nearby museum. A deeper section of pond will allow fish and other pond inhabitants to survive through cold winter temperatures.
Building Addition & Masterplan
The Arc of Iroquois County is an organization that cares for mentally and physically disabled individuals. They integrate their clients with the local community through job placement and outreach programs. As Project Manager at Linden Group Architects, I led the design team on a 4,200 sf building addition. This client was on a tight budget, and the project was completed for approximately $550,000 (only $130 per sf).
The addition features a workshop for woodworking and painting, a sensory room for clients with extreme sensitivities, a lunchroom, office, and accessible toilets. A twenty year master plan was also created to organize future improvements.
New Residential Construction
The homeowner for this 4,800 square foot single family residence wanted to minimize site impacts, embrace the surrounding topography, and preserve existing vegetation. Thus, the home was designed into the landscape, creating a single story front elevation and welcoming entrance. The north facing elevation features a walk-out basement, work shed, deck, screened porch, and views of the Iroquois River.
Retail Space Build-Out
Haven Salon & Boutique is one of the first retail spaces to open in the new Carle at the Fields development in southwest Champaign. This 2,700 square feet build-out includes a boutique waiting lounge, twelve salon stations, wash/dry stations, a treatment room, toilet rooms, storage, office, and an employee break room.
